Those Michael Jackson statues....

There was a lot of controversy in the English papers last week about the unveiling of two very different, in memory, statues of Michael Jackson in London.

The first is oddly at Fulham Football club, why because Michael Jackson was a avid supporter of the team? You would think but no. The wonderfully strange and eccentric Mohammed Al Fayed decided to erect this great monument at the football club, when his initial plan to have it in Harrods failed when he sold the great department emporium.

What's hilarious about this story is that Al Fayed believes the football fans love it. One fan said, "we are a laughing stock. It has nothing to do with football." I couldn't agree more but since Al Fayed has sold Harrods I have missed the crazy and wonderful things he says and does and out of all his outburst this is the best one by far.

You think this is the strangest, a dedication to a young successful Michael Jackson at a Football Stadium then the best is to come. Head to The Promises, an East London music studio, where Swedish artist Maria Von Kohler has created a life size statue of the controversial moment Michael hung his baby out the window. This statue has caused outrage among Jackson's fans one saying, "One of the biggest sins of mankind on an individual." The black lash has been so severe that police have been enlisted to investigate death and arson threats from loyal fans.

The Swedish artist said, " I'm pretty surpised at the overwhelming amount of negative reactions from Michael Jackson fan base...The piece investigates the nature of the relationship between someone of unparrelled iconic status, the media and the public; the frenzy that subsequently ensued."

What do we all think about the statues, good or bad dedications? Leave comments, let me know what you all think.
